Overview

We invite you to plant the seeds of success now and begin achieving big things.

The Mount Shasta Martial Arts Program (MSMAP) is delighted to once again offer a truly unique summer experience and opportunity for children 5-years-old and up to try various martial arts in the safest, most modern martial arts training environment in Siskiyou County.

This is the fourth partnership with the Mount Shasta Recreation & Parks District to create an ideal activity experience for children.

The purpose of this introductory mini-camp is to allow children in Mount Shasta and surrounding communities to get a taste of different martial arts and learn some practical self-defense strategies and tactics. The curriculum emphasizes the basic skills of taekwondo and yongmudo and includes judo and Japanese sword arts including good manners.

Bully Proof Skills

MSMAP is focusing on Bully-Proofing kids this summer. This mini-camp is an important part of this service. Children will practice skills for effective communication to get bullies to “Back off!” In addition, children will learn various exercises for strength, flexibility, and confidence. It is our belief that kids should spend more time enjoying themselves and learning and growing rather than being bogged down with fear and insecurity that bullies bring.

No bullies allowed!

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child need to attend every day?
No. Attend as much as your schedule allows. However, to receive the full benefit, attending all three days allows for a more knowledge. And more fun!

Can my child attend the regular training at 4:30 or 5:15pm?
Yes. However, our regular training sessions and our mini-camp are separate activities with separate fees. Because our mini-camp will be pretty busy, it’s not recommended that children do both.

“What’s this about ‘Good Manners’?”
Martial arts training is not about fighting; it is about learning physical skills over a period time to help develop self-confidence and self-respect to achieve big things. Good manners is an essential component to this process. Participants are expected to follow directions and be respectful of others as well as themselves.
